Amelie Thibaudeau, DVM, DABVP (Canine and Feline)

Veterinarian

Dr. Amelie (pronounced as “Emily”) was destined to be a veterinarian as she first engaged in the battle with her parents to get a pet at the age of 3 (maybe 2). At the age of 8, her parents finally gave up and adopted their first dog. Dr. Amelie’s desire to care for animals accounts for her earliest memories in life and helps define who she is today as a passionate veterinarian.

Dr. Amelie was born and raised in Montreal, Canada. She earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Montreal in 1998. Dr. Amelie has also earned Diplomate status from the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) as a Canine and Feline specialist. From 1998 to 2005, she worked as an Emergency and Critical Care Veterinarian in both Ottawa, Canada, and New Jersey.

Dr. Amelie’s desire to form long-lasting relationships with pets and their owners would eventually lead her to general medicine and surgery. In 2005, she and her husband decided to purchase a New Jersey veterinary practice. From 2005 to 2018, Dr. Amelie cared for thousands of local pets and the practice became a leading pet healthcare provider in South Jersey.

Three kids later and new priorities in life, Dr. Amelie and family relocated to Iowa. They enjoy being close to Iowa family and having their children experience growing up in the heartland.

Dr. Amelie is now pursuing a new vision: providing pets with high-quality healthcare in the most comfortable environment for them – Home Sweet Home. Operating a mobile veterinary practice allows her team to provide a premium level of customer service and a lower stress experience for pets, which is appreciated by all!

Dr. Amelie believes in preventive and integrative medicine, client education, pain management, and an open-minded approach. Her special interests include internal medicine, dentistry, surgery, ultrasound, minimally invasive procedures, and low-stress animal handling.

Outside of focusing on her patients and veterinary practice, Dr. Amelie enjoys a very active and “hectic” life with her husband and three young children. Pursuing good health, fitness activities, enjoying nature, and movies are some of her hobbies. Her family also includes 1 dog, 3 cats, 3 guinea pigs, 1 bearded dragon, and 7 chickens (and counting!).
